Your 18-Week Journey

Our program is designed to take you from beginner to job-ready in 18 weeks. Here's what your experience will look like:

1

Weeks 1-2: Building Your Foundation

You'll start by learning the fundamentals — medical terminology, professional conduct, and the basics of working in a medical office. You'll meet your classmates and instructors, and start getting comfortable in a clinical environment.

2

Weeks 3-12: Hands-On Clinical Training

This is where it gets real. You'll practice clinical skills in a real medical office environment, working with actual equipment and tools. You'll learn phlebotomy, EKG, vital signs measurement, injections, and clinical procedures.

3

Weeks 13-15: Certification Prep

We'll prepare you for the CCMA national certification exam with review sessions, practice tests, and study support. You'll take and pass your certification before you graduate.

4

Weeks 16-18: Externship

Put everything you've learned into practice during your externship at a local medical office. You'll work alongside licensed professionals, gaining real-world experience that employers value.

A Typical Week

Classroom Learning

Each week includes structured classroom time where you'll learn the theory and knowledge behind medical assisting — from anatomy and terminology to patient care protocols and office procedures.

Hands-On Practice

Our classes take place in real medical offices, so you'll practice on the same equipment you'll use in your career. This isn't a simulation — it's the real thing.

What You'll Learn

  • Medical terminology
  • Vital signs measurement
  • Phlebotomy (blood draws)
  • EKG procedures
  • Injection techniques
  • Patient intake & documentation
  • Clinical procedures
  • Infection control
  • Office administration
  • CCMA certification prep

Small Classes, Big Support

Our class sizes are small by design, so you get the individual attention you need. Your instructors are experienced medical professionals who are invested in your success — and our student support team is here to help with everything from scheduling to career placement.

I cannot say enough amazing things about my medical assistant instructors, Sancie & Jim! From day one, they created an environment that was welcoming, encouraging, and truly motivating. They don’t just teach the material — they make sure you understand it and feel confident applying it in real-life clinical settings. Sancie is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. She takes the time to break down complex concepts in a way that actually makes sense, and she genuinely cares about each student’s success. You can tell she has a passion for healthcare and for teaching. Jim brings such great energy and real-world experience into the classroom. Jim and Sancie are amazing Instructors. Both are very knowledgeable of the job and will do anything and everything to make sure you feel confident in class. You can ask any sort of question without hesitation, they are very patient, understanding instructors. Only complaints about the school overall is how us students are not allowed to be in contact with the instructors. No email or phone. Which makes zero sense in a school/learning environment. Another complaint is also having more than two instructors in room. Way too many chefs in the kitchen. Jim and Sancie are the perfect duo and I feel like it should remain that way. Read less

My experience in the new Medical Assistant program at Lakewood has truly felt like a dream. I especially want to thank Instructor Sancie and Instructor Jim for their incredible dedication. You can see Sancie’s experience reflected in every class, and the love and passion Jim brings to teaching are truly admirable. I’ve been fortunate to complete my externship at Sancie’s clinic, AfterOurs in Littleton, and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity and the trust they have placed in me. I’ve always held back when speaking English since it is my second language, but thanks to their patience and the way they explain every procedure an MA needs to perform, I feel more confident every day as I move forward in this new stage of my life.
